Gerald Hurt, 80, of Florence died Monday at his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1931, in Council Grove to Harold and Mamie Smith Hurt.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired electrical engineer. He had lived in Florence since 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of the home; a son, Jerry of Florence; two daughters, Fonda Hurt and Genina Hurt, both of California; a sister, Almeda Kahns of Lincolnville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rexeal, in 1996.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will be in the Lincolnville Cemetery.
