Girls lead Centre quint

Centre High School senior Theo Kassebaum and freshman Shelby Makovec earned first-place finishes at the Central Kansas Track League meet hosted by CHS April 3 at Marion.

Kassebaum won the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.4 seconds. She placed second in the 300 low hurdles at 56.4. A leap of 14 feet, 11.75 inches in the long jump gave her a fourth-place finish.

Makovec won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:10.4. She placed third in the 1,600 at 6:11.5.

Girls 4x100 relay (Simons, Ellie Miller, Anna Weber, and Theo Kassebaum): 3. 56.9.

Houston Svoboda: 2. 200 dash, 25.8; 4. 100 dash, 12.3.

Justin Deines: 4. 200 dash, 26.8.

Grant Srajer: 5. 100 dash, 12.5.

At the Marion Relays Thursday, Cacey Simons was the only Centre individual athlete who placed. She finished fourth in high jump at 4-6.

The girls’ 4x100-relay team of Simons, Miller, Makovec, and Brenna Shields finished in fifth place at 59.1.
