Girls stumble at Trinity

The Marion High School girls’ basketball team lost on the road Tuesday at Trinity Catholic of Hutchinson, 45-36.

The Warriors were competitive in the game and held a 23-17 lead at halftime.

The girls will begin sub-state playoffs Tuesday. Seeding is scheduled to be set today. First-round sub-state games are played at the higher seed’s gym. If the Warriors advance, the semifinals and finals will be at Marion.

Friday against Bennington

Katey Ehrlich got the girls started early Friday night against Bennington, scoring the team’s first 11 points to lead 11-2. The Bulldogs scored six points in the last two minutes of the quarter, though, and Marion only led 13-8 at the first break.

Kaelyn Thierolf, Ehrlich, Kelli Hess, Bailey Robson, and Megan Richmond each made jumpers to start the second quarter, putting the Lady Warriors ahead 23-8. They led 29-11 at halftime.

Marion controlled the game during the second half, leading by double-digits the rest of the way. They defeated the Bulldogs 42-25.
