Goessel grad selected for all-star game
Graduating senior Caiden Duerksen of Goessel has been selected to play in the 37th annual eight-man all-star football game at 10 a.m. Saturday in Beloit.
A pep rally and refreshments for players, coaches, and fans is planned for 4 p.m. Friday at Chautauqua Park in Beloit.
Duerksen, who will play for the west squad in the Division I all-star game, plans to attend Kansas State University and major in ag tech management.
A tight end and defensive end in his high school career, he was credited with 1,335 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 10.5 sacks and was a first-team all-state selection by the Wichita Eagle.
His parents are Chelon and Megan Duerksen.
