Goessel High grad lands part in Bethel College's fall production

Luke Unruh of Goessel has been cast in Bethel College’s Fall Festival play of “A Shayna Maidel” by Barbara Lebow.

The production will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday on the stage of Krehbiel Auditorium in Luyken Fine Arts Center.

“A Shayna Maidel” is the story of two Polish-born sisters separated when their parents plan to move the family to America, but the eldest comes down with scarlet fever.

The father, played by Unruh, sails for Brooklyn while their mother and Luisa stay behind and are confined in a concentration camp.

Luisa survives the concentration camp, where their mother dies, and comes to live with Rose, who has no memory of her or their mother.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and adults older than 65, and $7 for children 3 to 12.

They are available at Thresher Shop in Shultz Student Center, or by phone at (316) 284-5205, or one hour before show time.
