Golfers compete in multiple tourneys

Halstead golfers birdied their way into first place as a team in the seven-school Hillsboro golf invitational April 6. Hillsboro placed fourth. Goessel took fifth.

Individually, Goessel’s Noah Schrag placed third. Hillsboro had three players in the top 15, Lincoln Wichert in 10th, Bryant Dalke in 13th, and Annaliese Jorgenson in 14th.

On Monday, Schrag placed second in a Central Christian invitational. Teammate Levi Schrag placed 14th. Three Marion players participated as well. Anthony Potocnik finished in 41st place, Matt Basore tied for 44th place, and Gabe Hasenbank finished in 55th place.

“Our players are continuing to improve their skills and scores,” Marion coach Max Venable said.

Marion will travel to Goessel Friday for a junior varsity meet while Hillsboro will be in Salina.
