Golfers head to state

On a damp Monday morning, Noah Schrag carded an 81 to lead Goessel to a tie for second place in the 1A regional tournament at Halstead.

Levi Schrag improved his score eight points on the second nine holes to finish one stroke behind his brother.

Chevy Gagnon finished his round with a 108 in 18th place. Anthony Boden shot eight strokes better on his second nine to capture 16th place with a score of 112.

Luke Stucky and Jack Nickel rounded out the team for the Bluebirds.

Goessel finished second place as a team and qualified for the state tournament next Monday and Tuesday at Hesston.

The Bluebirds finished behind Central Christian of Hutchinson and ahead of Olpe.

Hillsboro

After a one-day rain delay, Eureka’s gold regional finished Tuesday evening with Hillsboro’s Lincoln Wichert tied for second, earning him a trip to compete at State with a score of 89.

Annaliese Jorgenson placed sixth place, also earning her a trip to state.

Wichert and Jorgenson will head to Dodge City to play May 20th-21st on Mariah Hills golf course .

Marion

Marion was unable to qualify for state Tuesday after competing in regionals at Atchison Golf Club at Bellevue.

Gavin Wasmuth led the Warriors with a 26th finish and a score of 104. Jacob Tharp tied for 43rd. Austin Marsden placed 50th.

Jordy Raymer placed 53rd, Alec Richardson 56th, and Gavin Regier 58th.
