Grant cycle begins; donations matched

Deadlines for Peabody foundation approach

Peabody Community Foundation has opened its grant cycle for teachers and student groups.

It will offer eight $250 grants to Peabody-Burns staff and student groups. The deadline for grant applications is Oct. 11. The foundation will announce awards Nov. 28.

Grants awarded last year paid for replacement of library books, knife kits for family consumer science classes, and supplies for project-based learning activities.

Meanwhile, an anonymous donor has challenged Peabody Community Foundation with a $10,000 matching grant for the organization’s Community Improvement Fund. 

Contributions will be matched dollar for dollar through Oct. 9.

The fund supports Peabody Land Bank, provides matching funds for grant applications to the state, and supports other efforts to improve housing.
