Hallie Novak

Services for Hallie Sue Novak, 87, who died Friday at Salem Home in Hillsboro, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick.

Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Yazel - Megli Funeral Home, Herington. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born July 19, 1937, in rural Herington to Norman C. and Helen Ruth (Johnson) Schlesener, she was a 1955 graduate of Alamosa High School and married veterinarian Robert Novak on Nov. 7, 1959, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Herington.

She worked as a dental assistant in Herington and then in her husband’s veterinary practice.

She taught Sunday school at Hebron Lutheran and was active in the Altar Guild. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of Lost Springs; children Cindy Clark of Wichita, Robyn Pervin of Chanute, and Jo Smith of Great Bend; siblings Norman Schlesener of Manhattan and Corkie Dunlap of Hope; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her parents and brothers John and Daniel Schlesener preceded her in death.

Memorials have been established with the church and the Alzheimer’s Association.
