Halloween fun, runners coming

Marion will be the scene of cross country regionals Saturday at the high school football stadium.

Nine 4A class teams will compete with girls starting at 10:35 a.m. and boys starting at 11:45 a.m.

Class 2A competition, with 15 schools including Marion and Hillsboro will begin with girls at 10 a.m. and boys at 11:10 a.m.

Marion’s Falloween celebration Saturday offers a day full of spooky — and not-so-spooky — fun for kids and adults.

The day’s schedule is:

 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Vendors at Jetset Clothing. Pumpkin Olympics and hay maze at Bill and Essie’s BBQ.

 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Haunted Museum at Marion Historical Museum.

 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Masks at Crafty Cactus for $5.50 per mask. Free cookies while they last.

 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Face painting at Bill and Essie’s for $5.

 2 p.m. — Movie at Marion City Library.

 3 to 5 p.m. — Hayrides at Historic Elgin Hotel.

 4 p.m. — Sneak peek of Marion High School musical at Central Park.

 5 p.m. — Howl-o-ween pet and person costume show at Central Park.

 7 to 9 p.m. — Street dance on Main St. and beer garden at Bill and Essie’s.

 All day — Story walk on Main St. and scarecrow contest throughout town.
