CLUB NOTES
Happy Hustlers
A $6 harvest meal of pulled pork and baked beans from Carlsons’ Grocery plus drinks and cookies from 4-H families will be served from 5 to 7 tonight at Marion’s Central Park.
Families were asked at a Happy Hustlers meeting June 4 at Valley United Methodist Church to sign up for work shifts and bring needed supplies or to donate $10. Each family also was asked to bring two dozen cookies, individually wrapped.
Jaxon Salsbury gave a presentation about how to make a chocolate cake. Cassie Meyer talked about a food stand serving pizza around lunch time July 28 at the county fair.
Local 4-H clubs also are being asked to donate $100 to purchase pulled pork for a Friends of 4-H barbecue. Other announcements and reports included a thank-you to volunteers who picked up trash on Eisenhower Dr. and Industrial St. Tri-County Fair will be July 5 to 7 in Herington, Canton fair will be July 18 to 22, and Marion County Fair will be July 21 to 28.
Wanda Williams said a foods meeting was planned for 1 p.m. June 7 in Central Park.
A horse meeting is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday in addition to a food safety meeting at 3 or 7 p.m. June 28 in Marion and a ServSafe meeting at 6:30 p.m. July 9 in Hillsboro.
Marsha Meyer said those exploring 4-H who made rockets could enter their rockets at the county fair.
Sara Groening and Jaxon led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge. Ten members answered roll by naming their favorite songs. Six leaders, five parents, and one guest also attended. Tristan Williams read May minutes, which were approved as read, and Sara Groening led the club in honoring June birthdays.
The club’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 2 at Marion’s city building. A night of work on stall decorations, to plan a parade float, and to work on a booth or banner is planned. Refreshments will be provided by the Madgwick family.
