Happy Hustlers 4-H club reports on county decisions

Nick and Elizabeth Meyer told Happy Hustler 4-H Club members at their Feb. 4 meeting that the county council will let fair participants sell one project each at the auction this year. This will allow all members, not just livestock project members, to earn money for their work.

The Meyers also told their club members that the council was working on a fair theme and might shorten the fair week by one day with schedule changes.

The Happy Hustlers club will host a winter get-together from 2 to 4 p.m. on March 9 at the Starlight Skating Rink in Emporia.

For the program, Nick Meyer gave a speech about finding niche markets selling chicken products. Austin Neufeld gave a talk about his model rocketry project.

Club members sang “Happy Birthday” to those in attendance with February birthdays, and “Home on the Range.” Then they played Heads Up, Seven Up for recreation.

Harms and Neufeld families provided refreshments.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on March 4 at the Marion Christian Church.
