Harold Farris

Former Canada resident Harold L. Farris, 88, died March 25 at Newton Medical Center.

Funeral services were Saturday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home and interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Born Jan. 31, 1927, to Leo and Ethel (Vanderhoof) Farris in Sedan, Harold graduated from Moline High School.

He married Bonnie Moore on May 24, 1947, and they lived in El Dorado before moving to Canada where they lived for 35 years until moving to Walton a year ago.

Harold worked at several aircraft plants in Wichita, and also farmed and ranched many years.

He was a member of the Sedan Saddle club and an avid golfer until the age of 84.

His parents and two brothers, Leo Jr. and Billy, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Connie Hosford of Newton, and Mary Caviale of Modesto, California; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A memorial was established with Caring Hands Humane Society. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway St., Newton, KS 67114.
