Carmen Santos of Herington finds no shortage of excited customers when she drives a van full of ice cream treats to Marion from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Friday.

Santos sells frozen treats on a weekly tour of several towns. They include Alta Vista, Dwight, and White City on Sunday, Council Grove on Saturday, and Herington and Hope on Wednesday. She says she wants to give children an old-fashioned ice cream truck experience.

On Friday, her mother, Irma Santos, rode along with her while she was visiting from Colorado.

“I support her 100%,” Irma Santos said.

In addition to frozen treats, Santos sells cold drinks.

The truck can be reserved for birthday parties, family reunions, block parties, neighborhood yard sales, sports, weddings, work events, and other occasions. To schedule the truck for a special event, people can call (785) 473-8506 or send a message on Verd’s social media page.

She will probably finish this year’s rounds at the end of September, Santos said.
