The Marion High School boys’ cross-country team and senior runner Jordan Hett finished atop the standings Thursday at the Eureka Invitational meet in Eureka.

Four Warriors placed in the top ten of the 42-runner field, topped by Hett’s winning time of 17 minutes, 29 seconds. It was the second consecutive win for Hett, as he gears up for a run for a fourth trip to the Class 3A state championship meet.

Patrick McCarty placed fifth with a time of 18:30, followed closely by Timothy Knolla in sixth with a time of 18:44. Jacob Cope was right on Knolla’s heels, running the course in 18:48 to finish eighth.

Other Marion varsity runners included Quinton Hett, 33rd, 21:39, Clark Kroupa, 35th, 21:46, and Jared Hague, 37th, 21:58.

“Everyone ran very well,” Marion head coach Rebecca Hofer said. “Jordan took first by a good ways, and Patrick stayed with the front few and came in with a solid fifth place.”

In the varsity girls’ division, McKenzee Remmers was the only entry for the Lady Warriors. She placed 14th out of 44 runners, circling the course in 17:30.

The cross-country runners compete again Thursday in the Heart of America league meet in Bennington.
