Hett is all-league, heading to WSU

Staff writer

Marion volleyball athlete Grace Hett has been named in the first team all-league for the Heart of America league.

“Being named all league this year is very exciting, she said. “I had been nervous since I was in a whole new position and I had no clue if I was going to make it or not.”

Her senior year was tough at the beginning because she had to step into a new position and it was “very scary.”

“I had an amazing coach that helped me stay positive through it all and she helped me every step of the way,” Hett said. “It ended up being a great year with my teammates and I got super close with a lot of the underclassmen.”

Hett started her high school volleyball career as a freshman.

“That was always a dream of mine,” she said.

Some of her most memorable moments were during a lock-in this past summer.

“It was my first time getting to know some of the younger girls and they turned into my best friends,” Hett said. “I’ll never forget all of the fun pregame locker room singing and the funny moments at practices.”

As a senior, Hett will be graduating this year and moving on to play volleyball at Wichita State University.

“I start almost right after graduation and jump into things,” she said. “I am very excited to take volleyball to the next level and I will never forget all of the wonderful people that got me to that spot!”
