Hett wins golf tourney 3 years straight

Scoring 142 strokes after a two-day, 36-hole bonanza, Travis Hett won the annual Marion Country Club Championship for the third year in a row on Aug. 6 and 7.

Coming in second, Hett’s brother, Nickolas, was hot on his trail, eight strokes down at 150.

Tyler Smith, the men’s handicap club champion, was third overall at 151, followed by Joe Lovelady at fourth with a 158, and Nick Carlson at fifth with a 162.

Finishing with a 169, Judy Noller was the women’s division club champion. Karlene Lovelady was second at 206. Lois Smith was third overall and also was the women’s handicap champion.

Bryan Hess won the seniors division with a 148. Finishing with a 160, Don Noller edged out Aaron Hett by one stroke for second. Dave Shiplet was fourth at 165, and Tim Christensen was fifth at 168.

Gene Winkler won the Super Seniors Division with a 206.

All golfers listed qualified for the Bruce Crofoot Memorial Tournament in September.
