Hillsboro to present ‘Shrek’ musical

Staff writer

Vocal music teacher Lynn Just is organizing a different theatre production for Hillsboro High School: “Shrek.”

“It seemed to fit the kids that I have right now,” she said.

“Shrek the Musical” will be performed Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Thirty students each play some part with the musical.

“Shrek takes a lot of different set pieces, different props, and different costumes,” Just said. “A lot of the kids are playing different parts, so just trying to coordinate all of that is what we’re working on.”

Art teacher Dustin Dalke supervised the sets, which include wheeled castle segments and streamer-leafed swamp trees. His and Just’s project management classes built them. Opera singer Olivia Cleaver has returned to the high school where she graduated to help with makeup and costumes.

Tickets can be purchased online for $10 each at https://www.vancoevents.com/15143
