Hillsboro wrestlers 2nd, Marion 8th

Wrestlers from both Hillsboro and Marion High School were in action this weekend, competing at the Halstead Invitational. 

Hillsboro took second out of 12 competing schools with 93.5 points while Marion’s 57 was good for eighth place.

Minneapolis cruised to the finish line with 188.5 points. 

The Trojans’ duo of Jordan Bachman and Tristan Rathbone each captured a gold medal while Marion’s Todd Palic stayed unbeaten on the season for the Warriors’ sole gold medal.

The 126-pound Chance Shults, and 220-pound Trevor Schafers, each brought home a silver medal for Marion and Hillsboro’s Garrett Helmer took second in the 138-pound division.   Hillsboro’s 145-pound Ryder Norstrom was the county’s only third place finisher. 

Marion got a pair of fourth-place finishers from 152-pound freshman Jack Lanning and 132-pound Quenton Taylor. 

Anthony Fickes, Austin Rempel, Deon Weeks, and Filow Cruz all finished fourth in their weight class for Hillsboro.  Marion’s 120-pound Forest Slater edged Hillsboro’s Charlie Major in the fifth-place match while Isaiah Patton and Lane Rogers finished fifth and sixth for Hillsboro.
