Historical society to develop a new website

Marion County Historical Society approved a design of a new website at a meeting Sept. 6 in Pilsen.

The Godaddy website will cost $9.99 for the domain transfer and $9.99 a month.

Among other things, it will provide a sign-up form for email subscriber sign-up form for email services, PayPal payments, and connections to social media.

The website will include a description and photographs of each of the historical organizations in Marion County.

The board approved membership fees of $25 for each organization and $15 for an individual or $30 for a couple, beginning in 2024.

Treasurer Susan Gray reported a bank balance of $8,052.41.

Members present included chairman Audrey Wheeler, Melissa Stuchlik, Patty Traxson, Gray, and at-large member Megan Jones.

Peggy Goertzen of the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies at Tabor College was a guest. She said a wealth of historical records about the county was available for research at the center.

The board will meet Nov. 6 at Marion Historical Museum after a workshop on marketing.
