Hopes and fears for 2025
“I’d like to see less conflict and less fighting.”
— Sybil Bowman
“Development of great leaders to guide the community. Establish a family restaurant and replace Wendy’s in Hillsboro. Continued success for both local school districts and Tabor College. While hoping to avoid negative events, the community desired to be resilient and seek help when needed, using challenges as opportunities for growth.”
— Demetrius Cox
“Happy, healthy life. A lot more improvement for business. And for food prices to go down; they are too high.”
— Dana Depler
“City council to do the right things. Ways to protect the town while promoting economic growth.”
— Chuck Ehmann
“100% change in city officials, mayor and council. We need people who have the community’s best interest and not themselves.”
— Teresa Ehmann
“Everybody to come together in agreement.”
— Joyce Ford
“For more people to give each other more grace. We are all neighbors, start the day with good intentions. I want to see continued trends for business growth and continue to feed the entrepreneur spirit.”
— Megan Jones
“I hope to see more community involvement in things like music and fine arts programs because those are lacking in community involvement. I am kind of afraid more people are going to leave the community because we are already a small community, and I fear if we get any smaller we’re going to disappear.”
Alyera Koehn
“Hope to see more businesses open. A lot of storefronts need filled. And more community unity.”
— Sadie Lange
“More young families moving here and more rentals for those young families to live in.”
— Tracy Long
“People to contribute more to the towns in our community.”
— Ashley Love
“The community is pretty good with sticking together. Always stuff to do going on around here.”
— Austin McKinnis
“The community is good as is.”
— Floyd Myers
“In 2025, I expect the community to have an overall better sense of togetherness. There have been a lot more activities and communitywide events. I can see that growing in this next year. I can see the school putting in a lot of money to different sports programs and not really finding any other opportunities for any fine arts. The school is run by only the staff, with students not having any say, stripping the individuality of students and taking their creativity.”
— Georgia Madgwick
“More solidarity, more community involvement.”
— Brittany MorningSky
“Get rid of the corruption.”
— Edward Silhan
“A lot better goodness in people, the way they communicate with each other.”
Taylor Vogt
