Employees of St. Luke Hospital and Living Center have raised more than $108,000 during November to help fund a $6 million hospital expansion project.
Nearly 95 percent of hospital employees donated money during a pledge drive organized by an employee development council.
The initial goal was $100,000 — an ambitious goal to say the least. But the approximately 110 employees came through and even surpassed the goal.
In recognition of this milestone, employees launched balloons Dec. 2, asking those who find the balloons to respond.
At an employee celebration of the outstanding fundraising achievement, Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Armstrong told employees about a management award he received. He explained that he would not have achieved the recognition without employees’ hard work.
“You guys are the ones who make this hospital work,” he said. “You are the heart and soul of this place.”
“The money raised by St. Luke employees is a huge statement to residents of Marion and the surrounding areas,” Family Gifts Division Chairman Janet Herzet said. “I am proud to be part of such a wonderful staff.
Weekly information meetings are being hosted by Armstrong to explain the building project, trends in local and national health care delivery, and a comprehensive overview of St. Luke Hospital.
Anyone interested in attending a meeting should contact St. Luke Hospital Foundation office at (620) 382-3115 or stop by the foundation office at 500 E. Main St., Marion.
