Hotel garners state award

Grand Central Hotel and Grill in Cottonwood Falls has received a statewide Mainstreet Momentum Award honoring its improvement, growth and engagement in a downtown commercial zone.

The award was given Thursday during the Kansas Department of Commerce’s annual ‘To The Stars’ ceremony.

A record 431 businesses, organizations, and people were nominated in 11 categories, and a total of 372 merit awards and 59 regional awards were presented.

Nominees were reviewed and scored on criteria including business expansion, employee recruitment and retention practices, training and educational programs, capital investment, and support for local community events.
