The house at 610 N. Walnut St. in Peabody is getting turned around by J & M Flip, a house flipping company based in Kansas City.
Alberto Melgar, half of J & M, bought the building four months ago.
“I believe the house was vacant for many years,” he said. “I told them if they found the owner, we could buy it. That’s what we did.”
Home construction is a family tradition, according to Melgar. His son, the other half of J & M, is working on the Walnut St. property while he oversees a project in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“Where we come from, we build houses, but we build totally different than the area. I want to show what we learned,” he said.
They are going off a different design and floor plan than the original home and plan to sell the building when renovations are finished in January.
“We’re going to reface everything,” Melgar said. “It’s going to be a different design, different everything. Nothing will be the same as what it was.”
