A proposed 24-unit housing development on Orchard Dr. just south of Dollar General will be the topic of a hearing March 21.
“We are excited to be able to help address the need for affordable housing in the Hillsboro community,” Mennonite Housing chief executive Bryon Adrian said. “We look forward to developing a partnership with the community and to better understand how we can help out in the future.”
The development, called Orchard Ridge, would include 12 duplex buildings, a clubhouse, and a maintenance garage. The duplexes would be two-and three-bedroom units, each with a garage. All appliances would be included.
The clubhouse would include a community room with kitchen, a technology room, a covered patio, a playground, and a basketball court.
“What an awesome opportunity,” Mayor Lou Thurston said. “It feels great to be able to address housing needs within our community and to do so in partnership with an experienced and proven organization like Mennonite Housing.”
Orchard Ridge is intended for renters with annual household income below 80% of the area median. Rent for some units will be tied to income.
Income limits for the development will be $44,240 for one person; $50,560 for two people; $56,880 for three people; and $63,200 for four people.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 21 at Hillsboro City Hall.
