Hulda Loewen

Services for Hulda Loewen, 95, who died Sept. 23 at Salem Home, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.

Pastor Tom Byford will officiate. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

Relatives will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

Born Feb. 1, 1928, to Abraham and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Loewen on a farm near Goessel, she attended Springfield Grade School, was baptized at Springfield Krimmer Mennonite Brethren Church, and graduated from Goessel High School in 1946.

She worked as food service supervisor St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, retiring after 39 years at age 65.

When Springfield Church closed in 1960, she joined Gnadenau Church, now Parkview. She taught Sunday school, sang in Christian groups, learned to play autoharp and organ, and exhibited at quilt shows

She was preceded in death by infant brother Aaron, brothers Bernard “Ben,” David, and Peter; and sister Martha.

Survivors include brother Albert and seven nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established with MB Multiply.
