EXPANDED EULOGIES

Amy Raleigh

A celebration of life for former Marion resident Amy Lynn Raleigh, 49, of Sublimity, Oregon, who passed away May 9, 2022, surrounded by family and friends, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church hall, Holy Family Parish, Marion.

Amy grew up in Marion, was a member of St. Mark’s Church, and graduated from Marion High School in 1991. She attended college in Wichita to study hospitality and travel management and worked at airport terminals supporting passengers in their travel journeys over the years.

She lived in many locations, including Dodge City; Telluride, Colorado; Seattle; and Phoenix while working in the travel industry, all in pursuit of her dream of one day becoming a flight attendant.

In 2016, Amy achieved her goal and was accepted into the Southwest Airlines flight attendant training program.

Even as her health attempted to delay her dreams, Amy never gave up. Her start date had to be postponed, but she persevered through her treatment and made her dream a reality a few months later. In August 2017, she began working for Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant.

Amy also had a love of photography. She often took pictures from her “office in the skies” to share her travel journeys while working for Southwest.

Amy never lost hope. She was a model of how we all should approach tough life situations, with a positive, never-give-up attitude. Her amazing spirit and light will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hurshel and Lois Raleigh and George and Marjorie Endres, and uncle Terry Raleigh.

Survivors include her fiancé, Troy Koivu, and their children in love, Cody, Peyton, Bradyn, and Wyatt; parents Robert Raleigh (and wife Mary) of Marion and Sharon Andes (and husband Dave) of Galva; brothers Gary Raleigh (and wife Jalena) of Valley Center and Mark Raleigh (and wife Michelle) of Watertown, New York; nephews and nieces Mitch Raleigh, Cole Collins, Shannah Collins, Kelsey Raleigh, and Zach Raleigh; as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Amy’s name at https://give.ocrahope.org/amyraleighmemorial to support ovarian cancer research.
