Betty Partridge
Services for former Peabody resident Betty Partridge, who passed away peacefully on her birthday, Nov. 9, 2025, at Piper Assisted Living Facility in Kansas City, Kansas, will be 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at Peabody United Methodist Church.
The Reverend Nathan Gift will preside. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
Betty was born November 9, 1932 in Melvern to Ernest and Myrle (Piper) Kellum.
She grew up in Peabody, where her love of music began.
A gifted musician and educator, Betty earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education from Wichita State University.
She taught in the Wichita Public Schools for more than 35 years, served as a church musician and choir director, and later taught music appreciation at Butler Community College, continuing to share her love of music well into her 80s.
Betty was an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and was known for her faith, joyful spirit, and devotion to family and friends.
She also enjoyed gardening, reading, decorating for the holidays, KU basketball, and Chiefs football.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Laura Austin, and husband Joe Partridge.
She is survived by daughter Kathleen Miller (and husband Rod); grandsons Chad (and wife Suzanne) and Jared (and wife Jolee) Miller; great-grandchildren Kaden and Kaiah Miller; and niece Sheryl Allen (and husband Larry).
