Bob Brock

A celebration of life for Robert A. (Bob) Brock, 86, who passed away Dec 15, 2023, at Clinton Healthcare in Clinton, Missouri, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Clinton.

Bob was born June 21, 1937, in Cawker City to Frank and Bess Brock.

He began his higher education with a degree in music from Fort Hays State College. His first teaching job was in Otis, where he met and married his wife of 63 years, Patricia Miller.

He was band director in Cimarron from 1961 to 1963 and received his master’s degree in education from Wichita State University in 1964.

He taught junior high band in Liberal from 1965 to 1967. The family moved to Garden City, where he enjoyed teaching high school band to many students from 1967 to 1982.

He moved to Marion, where he served as high school principal from 1982 to 1988. He then served as superintendent in Cuba from 1988 to 1991 and in Horton from 1991 to 1993.

He ended his career in education as middle school principal in Ellsworth from 1993 to 2002.

The family moved to Clinton, Missouri, upon his retirement.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years and by four children, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

His children are Layne and wife Lesa of Oro Valley, Arizona; Jody Donaldson of Weatherford, Texas; Craig and wife Kris of Lawrence; and Randy and wife Casey of Leawood.

His grandchildren are Gage and Colby Brock; Dru and Dusty Donaldson; and Lucy, Lauren and Carter Brock. His great-granddaughter is Addy Donaldson.

Also surviving are sisters Mary Ann Davis (and husband Jerry) of O’Fallon, Missouri; Betty Moore of Arlington, Texas; Fran Paxton (and husband Jack) of Overland Park; Jeanie Munsch of Russell; Kathy Blau (and husband Mike) of Olathe; and Doris Tompkins (and husband Mark) of St. John and brothers Gus Brock (and wife Bernice) of Albuquerque and John Brock (and wife Cathleen) of Tempe, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to Bourland Radiation Oncology Center, Clinton, Missouri, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley and Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
