Clarice Hammer

A celebration of life for Clarice Lucille Hammer, 89, Olathe, who passed away peacefully March 15, 2026, will be Saturday, March 28th at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe. Relatives will receive guests at 1 p.m. with a service at 3:00 p.m.

Born May 17, 1936, in Marion to Henry and Ethel Collett, she was raised on a farm and cherished a simple childhood.

She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Hammer, on Jan. 22, 1956. Together they raised five children: Jeanne, Rita, Mike, Dennis, and Eric.

Clarice worked at the Johnson County election office until retirement and was devoted to her family as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She and Bill shared nearly 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2024.

Clarice also was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jeanne, and several siblings.

Survivors include her children, 10 grandchildren, six (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
