Dorothy Beltz

A funeral service for Dorothy Ruth Beltz, 103, who died April 6, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson, was Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Dorothy’s great-nephew, Jay Johnson, officiated. You can view the service from Dorothy’s obituary on the Elliott Mortuary website.

Private family inurnment will take place in Durham Baptist Cemetery.

Dorothy was born May 10, 1921, in Durham to Jake and Anna (Ewert) Beltz.

She worked from 1944 to 1954 at Richards-Scheble Candy Co. She then worked for Wiley’s Department Store as a sales clerk in its housewares department and for the former Kay’s Floral.

From 1954 to 1973, Dorothy was a member of the Hutchinson Community College Alumni Association.

She volunteered weekly for Meals on Wheels for 35 years, cheerfully delivering meals to the homebound.

Dorothy was a helpful and thoughtful friend, always willing to help others, whether it was shopping for groceries or driving friends to doctor appointments. 

Dorothy is survived by niece Rita Johnson, great-nieces Jennifer Johnson and Jill Lee (and husband Adam), great-nephew Jay Johnson (and wife Jennifer), many beloved cousins, and her Mission Place family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, two sisters and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Community College Endowment Association to benefit nursing scholarships and may be made in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main St, Hutchinson KS 67501.
