Eloise Mueller

A funeral service for Eloise Mueller, 90, who died Oct. 7, 2025, in Newton, Kansas, was 10 a.m. Oct. 14, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 225 S. Poplar St, Newton.

Interment followed with a graveside service at Tampa Lutheran Cemetery, Tampa. 

Visitation was 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 13, 2025, at Petersen Family Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton.

Born Sept. 27, 1935, in McPherson, Eloise was a remarkable woman whose life was marked by love, dedication, and a warm spirit that touched everyone she encountered.

She graduated from Chase High School in 1953 and then attended business college.

Eloise was a long-time active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Newton and was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church during her years in Marion.

While living in Marion, Eloise was a bookkeeper for Wheeler and Wheeler Law Firm and vice president of the former Tip Top credit union in Hillsboro. She also sold real estate for Kannady and Associates in Marion.

She gave her time and leadership skills back to the community serving as mayor of Marion for a time. 

She greatly enjoyed spending time reading, especially Guideposts. She often could be found watching her favorite new Hallmark movie or lately a Royals baseball game. In earlier years, she looked forward to gardening season and tending flowers.

She is survived by her son, Craig Mueller; her daughter, Rochelle Mueller; grandson Earl Mueller; and her brother, Louis Bynum. 

Eloise was preceded in death by her father, Glen Bynum; her mother, Edna Smith; her husband, Earl Mueller; and her brother, Gerald Bynum.

These family members were an integral part of her life, shaping her into the loving individual remembered today.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Newton and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home. 

Eloise’s remarkable life will be celebrated by all whose lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, serving as a reminder of love, strength, and resilience.
