Georgia Spohn

Georgia Alice (Pankratz) Spohn, 101, died Nov. 30 at St. Luke Living Center.

She was born Sept. 20, 1919, to George and Ruth Beaston Pankratz.

After graduating from Florence High School, she attended Tabor College and a Wichita beauty school. She owned a beauty shop in Marion before her marriage.

Georgia and Edward Spohn married on Aug. 2, 1940, and settled on a farm near Tampa. There were married 49 years.

She was able to live on the farm near her son until 2019, when she moved to Marion Assisted Living Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Joan Spohn and Norma Jean Wagner.

She is survived by her son, Gary, and his wife, Carole; two grandsons, Steve and wife Sheri, and Ryan and wife Jaime; three great-grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, and Luke Spohn; a sister, Enid Albrecht; and brothers Gram and John Pankratz; as well as her nieces and nephews.

A private service was held Dec. 4 at Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to Marion Christian Church, Tampa PRIDE, or Good Shepherd Hospice.

Georgia Spohn’s family thanks her doctors and caregivers at Marion Assisted Living, St. Luke Hospital and Living Center, and Good Shepherd Hospice.

The family greatly appreciates the prayer and support of the Helms family, Marion Christian Church, Tampa community, and family members.
