Gerald Hanneman

Services for Gerald Duwayne Hanneman Sr., 85, who passed away Dec. 24, will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.

Born Aug. 19, 1936, to Harry and Helen Hanneman in Peabody, Gerald grew up in 4-H and FFA, raising duroc hogs, which helped with his college tuition.

While in college, Gerald married Marilyn Morton of Parsons. They had three children — Gerald Hanneman Jr., Mark Hanneman, and Michelle Hanneman — and divorced after 37 years of marriage.

Gerald graduated from Kansas State University in 1961 with a degree in veterinarian medicine.

He worked in a private practice and through a chance meeting eventually became a senior research scientist for an animal biology group for General Dynamics in Texas until 1968.

Gerald then went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, doing research with animal transportation until he retired.

Gerald enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and their activities. He also enjoyed church volleyball and various church activities.

Gerald was preceded in death by parents Harry and Helen Hanneman and son Gerald Duwayne Hanneman Jr.

He leaves behind brother Bob Hanneman, son Mark Hanneman, daughter Michelle Hanneman, and their spouses, eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
