Irma Lee Meisinger

Services for Irma Lee Meisinger, 78, Marion, who died Oct. 24 at Newton Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion, with Pastor John Werner officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery.

Born Nov. 4, 1941, to Albert and Ethel Hodgson Janzen, on the family farm eight miles north of Canada, she was the youngest of three children.

Meisinger attended Victory Grade School though eighth grade and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959. She married Robert Meisinger of Marion on July 5, 1959.

The family lived in several different states including Kansas, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Oklahoma. They returned to Marion in 2000.

Meisinger was a stay-at-home mom most of her married life, beginning her career as an assistant church secretary at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Beaverton, Oregon, from 1990 to 1991. She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and worked at Trinity Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, from 1992 to 2000 when she retired.

She was active in church everywhere they lived, serving in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and teaching Sunday school, mid-week and vacation Bible schools.

She especially enjoyed playing in a church hand bell choir. She served as bulletin and newsletter secretary at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.

Her greatest joy was her family which includes: her husband of 61 years, of the home; daughter Cheryl Erickson, and husband, Dan, of Columbia City, Oregon; son David Meisinger of Newton; sister Dorothy Ensz, and husband, Janzen, of Hillsboro; brother Leonard Janzen, and wife, Jo Ann, of Fort Worth, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial has been been established with Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.
