EXPANDED EULOGIES

Joan Giles

A private celebration of life at a later date will honor the memory of Beverly “Joan” Giles, 72, who was united with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, after a long but determined battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Batesville, Arkansas, to George and Oneida (Foley) Bradley. Growing up, she attended Southeast High School in Wichita, graduating with the class of 1968.

On Nov. 21, 1972, Joan was united in marriage to Timothy Giles at Beth Eden Baptist Church in Wichita. This past November the couple celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage.

For more than 20 years, Joan owned and operated her own house-cleaning business. However, her favorite career was that of being a homemaker and spending time with her family – especially if it involved making and sharing meals with them.

Joan enjoyed giving gifts to those she loved, cooking, and watching her favorite football teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats.

One of her favorite places to visit was Branson, Missouri. She also liked spoiling her grandkids with candy from Nifty Nut House in Wichita.

Joan had a spunky attitude and loved fiercely.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Giles; mother Oneida Bradley; sons Trenton Giles (and wife Shanna) and Nathan Giles; grandchildren Sawyer, Daisy, and Rider; brothers Tom Bradley and Tony Bradley; sisters Barbara Juarez, Connie Bradley, and Vergia Ayers; and many other beloved family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Bradley.

Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton.

Memorial contributions in memory of Joan may be made to Tabor College for Project Search and can be left in care of the funeral home or mailed to: Tabor College, Project Search, 400 S Jefferson St, Hillsboro KS 67063.

We love you more, Grandma.
