John Glover

Services for former Peabody-Burns school superintendent John G. Glover, 82, who passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, in Kingman, were scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Madison United Methodist Church in Madison.

The service was to be conducted by pastors Marilyn Christmore and John Bright. Burial was to follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.

John Gail Glover was born April 14, 1939, in Americus, Kansas, to Glen Gail and Edith Maxine (Beam) Glover.

John and Margaret Ann Schwindt were married June 21, 1959, at Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church in Emporia.

She survives of Kingman. He also is survived by sons Mark Glover (and wife Lisa) and Bradley Glover (and wife Sheri) of Wichita and Steven Glover (and wife Donna) of Peabody; daughter Crystal Helten (and husband Brian) of Garden Plain; sister Maxine Kinder of Palestine, Texsas; grandchildren Zachary Glover (and wife Maggie), Kerri Riley (and husband Dane), Ashley Wolf (and husband Joe), Alysssa Shipps (and husband Jason), Chelsie Baldwin (and husabdn Xander), Johnathan Glover, Jefferson Glover, and Xavier Helten; and great-grandson Denton Riley.

Mr. Glover was a graduate of Emporia State University, having received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. He was a principal and superintendent of schools in Peabody and Madison.

After his retirement from education, he worked 14 years for Reebleā€™s Country Mart in Emporia and was a driver for Madison Senior Center.

He was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church, Madison Lions Club, coffee group, and church groups.

John was a founding member of the National Baseball Congress Hap Dumont youth baseball program.

Memorials have been established with Madison United Methodist Church and Madison Lions Club, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 175, Emporia KS 66801.
