Joyce Padgett

Services for Joyce Padgett, 82, farm wife and retired postal carrier who passed away with family by her side Sept. 13, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Florence United Methodist Church.

Relatives will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Joyce was born Feb. 19, 1943, in Wabaunsee County to Walter and Myrtle (Odle) Berends.

On June 5, 1960, she married John C Padgett near Clements.

He, son Steven, her parents, brothers Marvin and Robert, and sister Elsie Hamilton preceded in death.

Survivors include sons Jim of Florence and Mike (and wife Shelly) of Wichita; daughter Pat (and husband Craig) Wilson of Mulvane; brother Bill of Columbus, Georgia; sister Lois Nicholas of Wichita; and grandchildren Austin Huber, Ashley Huddleston, Autumn Padgett, Connor Padgett, Camden Padgett.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Florence United Methodist Church and the Florence Fire Department in care of Jost Funeral Home,  PO Box 266, Hillsboro KS 67063.
