Juanita Silhan

Relatives will gather with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday Jan. 4, 2024, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion for a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. forormer Marion resident Juanita June Silhan, 87, of Goessel, who passed away Jan. 1, 2024, at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday Jan. 5, 2024, at St. Mark’s. She will be laid to rest following Mass in Pilsen Cemetery.

Juanita’s life began Nov. 12, 1936, in Peabody. Her parents were Fred and Wanda (McIntosh) Dowell. Juanita was a graduate of Peabody High School and was united in marriage to Robert Silhan on Aug. 2, 1958, at St. Mark’s.

She was a member of St. Mark’s and a long-time member of the Pilsen Extension Homemakers Unit.

Juanita worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Luke’s Living Center and for a few years at Marion Elementary in the kitchen. She moved to Florence in 1998.

Juanita is survived by sons Mark Silhan of Longford and David Silhan of Marion and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by husband Robert in 2003 and by son James.

Yazel-Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
