Larry McCarty

Services for Marion native Larry E. McCarty, 80, who died Jan. 3 at his home in Maple Lake, Minnesota, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.

Visitation will be an hour before the services at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Marion, to Gene and Vera (Keazer) McCarty. A 1961 graduate of Marion High School, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He married Karen Chilson on April 11, 1966, in National City, California. They lived in San Diego while he was in the Navy, moved to Kansas, then in 1975 to Minnesota, where he worked as a welder, retiring in 2016.

Survivors include his wife, children Michelle McCarty of Minneapolis and Monica Carlson of Maple Lake, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
