Mervin Deines

A funeral service for Mervin Leon Deines, 88, Ramona, who passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Salina Regional Medical Center, will be 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona.

Burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

Mervin’s family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington.

Mervin’s life began Sept. 20, 1935, in Lost Springs. His parents were Ortwin and Hannah (Bernhardt) Deines.

Mervin was united in marriage to Leona Warns on April 20, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran-Lyons Creek Church.

He was a welder by trade and a long-time area farmer.

Mervin was an avid Royals, Chiefs, and K-State fan. When he was younger, he and his brothers played a lot of fast-pitch softball all over the area.

His greatest joy was his family, including his wife, Leona, of Ramona; children Jeff Deines (and wife Gayla) of Ramona, Debbie Coup of Salina, and Terry Deines (and wife Julie) of Ramona; grandchildren Jessica Hajek (and Andrew), Samantha Metzler (and Seth), Adam Coup (and Kelly), Shelby Erickson (and Parker), Justin Deines (and Josie), Makenzie Anthony (and Zac), Dylan Deines (and Ellie), and Carly Deines (and Cory Brown); great-grandchildren Camdyn, Breckyn, Landyn, Griffyn, Bristol, Rory, Branson, Gina, Grady, and Lainey; and sister-in-law Rosemary Deines of Herington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon and Weldon.

Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.
