Robert Neuwirth
Mass for Robert F. Neuwirth, 86, Pilsen, who passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Salina, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen.
Robert’s family will gather with friends 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion. His funeral vigil and rosary will begin at 7 p.m.
He will be laid to rest in Pilsen Cemetery.
Robert’s life began Feb. 5, 1938, in Lost Springs. His parents were John L. and Josephine (Hensley) Neuwirth.
Robert attended Lost Springs school and farmed nearly his entire life.
He also served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1960 until 1966 as a cook.
Robert was united in marriage to Rose Mary Schneweis on June 3, 1961, in Odin. The Neuwirths farmed near Pilsen for nearly 58 years.
Robert was a faithful parishioner of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and was a faithful supporter of the sainthood cause of Father Emil Kapaun.
He is survived by daughters Diana Stanfill of Salina and Laurie Brunner (and husband Jay) of Marion; grandchildren Crystal Barnett (and husband Gary) of Salina, Mitchell Neuwirth of Lost Springs, Jason Brunner of Herington, and Josh Brunner of Herington; and great-grandchildren Elijah, Easton, Ellis, and Elise.
His parents, wife, son Duane Neuwirth, granddaughter Kristin Brunner, and sister Dorothy Dennis preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be directed to the Father Kapaun Legacy Fund.
