Steve Collett
A memorial service for Stephen R. “Steve” Collett, 76, who died Jan. 20, 2022, at Diversicare of Council Grove, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.
Family will greet friends before and after the service. Cremation will take place. A marker will be placed at Elk Cemetery.
Steve was born Aug. 5, 1945, in Marion to Henry L. and Ethel M. (Higgins) Collett. He was raised on his parents’ farm near Lincolnville and graduated from Centre High School in 1963.
In 1969, he married Linda Priddy in Lincolnville.
Steve worked hard his whole life and prized his independence. He owned and operated several business endeavors, including plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general contracting, farming, and greyhounds. Steve loved bird hunting and dogs and was a collector of art and antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Linda Priddy.
Survivors include three children, Amy Connolly (and husband Stephen) of Fort Worth, Ryan Collett (and wife Heather) of Independence, and Mary Collett of Lenexa; grandchildren Elizabeth Connolly, Henry Connolly, Margaret Connolly, Makayla Collett, Hudson Collett, and Emma Collett; siblings Howard Collett (and wife Beth), Shirley Bowers, Marjorie Talbott, Anita Sly, Clarice Hammer (and husband Bill), Roma Skaggs, Mark Collett (and wife Mickey), and Stacey Collett (and wife Carla); many beloved nieces and nephews; and friend Gloria Martin.
