Steven Banman

Services for Steven J. Banman, 66, Goessel, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at his home, were Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.

A graveside service was at 10 a.m. at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery. A memorial service was at 11 a.m. at the church. Relatives greeted friends 6 to 9 p.m. the night before at the church.

Born May 15, 1959, in Hutchinson to James and Mary (Dunn) Banman, Steven graduated from Bethel College with a bachelor’s degree in business, and later from Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

He was united in marriage to Sandra “Sandy” Hiebert on June 2, 1984, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

Steven worked as a graphic designer for Pioneer Balloon Co. in Wichita for more than 30 years and was on the Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum board for many years, serving as president for eight years.

He loved western history and sports, especially the Denver Broncos, the Kansas City Royals, and Indy car racing.

Steven is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandy Banman of Goessel; daughter Allison Quinones (and husband Albino) of Austin, Texas; son Craig Banman of Hillsboro; grandchildren Albino “Albi” and Aurelia “Aurie” Quinones; and sisters, Susan Sileci Banman (and husband Ricardo) of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Christine Banman (and Polly Schattel) of Asheville, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Banman, and stepmother Judith Coover; mother Mary Banman; and brother-in-law Myron Hiebert.
