Insurance mailings have city’s blessing

Staff writer

Several residents have been receiving strange mail from with information about water and sewer line coverage plans.

A company called Utility Service Partners Private Label and its subsidiary company Service Lines of America sent the mailers, which went to many Marion residents.

The mailings stem from a meeting by the Marion City Council on Oct. 14, when the council agreed the company could contact residents about insurance for water and sewer lines.

Other area cities have passed similar agreements.

“The plans will cover lines from street connections until they reach the house,” City Clerk Angela Lange said. “The letter is suppose to have the signature of the mayor on them, but since we just faxed that last week, it didn’t make it on that mailer.”

The plans being marketed cover lines that are not covered by city costs and often not covered by homeowners insurance.
