Intoxicated teen detained

An intoxicated 16-year-old Cedar Point girl found swerving and vomiting on a Peabody street near a popular teen hangout Friday was assisted and then taken into custody.

Peabody officer Medina Sulejmani spotted the girl and stopped to assist.

Noticing a smell of alcohol, Sulejmani summoned an ambulance to The Hub to check the teen.

Since her parents could not come get her, the mother asked whether she could be released to her 21-year-old sister. The girl was taken to juvenile intake, and the older sister drove to Marion to pick her up.

Peabody Police Chief Travis Wilson said Sulejmani was unable to determine how the girl had obtained the alcohol. A report will be sent to the county attorney’s office recommending a charge of minor in consumption of alcohol.
