James R. Fruechting, 75, of Marion, died Oct. 28, 2008.

Born Dec. 24, 1932 at Aulne, he was the son of J.L. “Les” and Ada Krueger Fruechting.

He attended Aulne and Marion schools, graduating from Marion High School in 1950.

He married Donna Claire Miesse in October 1955 at Marion Christian Church.

He was a farmer and he and Donna owned and operated Marion Hardware for many years. He also served as a handyman at Hilltop Manor and a machinist.

He was a member of Marion Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Clair Meredith of Bartlesville, Okla., Sue Nyberg of Andover, and Patricia Chamberland of Marion; two brothers, Don Fruechting of Marion and Dwight Fruechting of Salina; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaugther.

A Celebration of Life service was Oct. 31 at Marion Christian Church with Pastor Carl Helm officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery with military honors.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
