Jane Makovec

Services for Jane Christina Makovec, 100, who died Friday at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.

Father Max Biltz will celebrate Mass. Relatives with gather with friends at the church from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, when Rosary will be recited. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born June 14, 1922, in Pilsen to Adolph and Christina (Stika) Rudolph, she attended Pilsen Elementary School and on Aug. 30, 1943, married Florian “Skeeter” Makovec at a mass concelebrated by Father Emil Kapaun.

The couple lived on a farm near Ramona and worked as custodians at the Pilsen school. She also cooked at St. Luke Hospital and Marion Senior Center.

She was active in the church choir in Pilsen and in altar societies in Pilsen and Marion and was a member of St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include sons Ron Makovec of Lincolnville and Gail and Allen Makovec of Ramona; 12 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Husband Skeeter and siblings Matt and Pete Rudolph, Elizabeth Propp, Ida and Cecelia Svitak, Agnes Smolik, Petrona Krotz, and infants Mary and Clara Rudolph preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established with Father Kapaun Legacy Fund.
