Janice Blessing
Funeral Mass for Lost Springs native Janice Sue (Navrat) Blessing, 81, of Murphysboro, Illinois, who passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Manor Court in Carbondale, Illinois, will be 9 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Murphysboro. Father Joel Seipp will officiate.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Crain Pleasant Grove – Murdale Funeral Home, Murphysboro. A time of remembrance and songs by husband Jim Blessing will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the Mass at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
She was born March 8, 1944, to Victor and Helen (Trostle) Navrat in Lost Springs.
On October 1, 1966, she married James A. “Jim” Blessing. They spent more than 58 years together. He survives.
She worked retail customer service, the last 18 years of which at CVS Pharmacy in Carbondale.
Janice was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Altar Society of the church, and the Red Hat Society.
She loved to bowl with Jim and was on several leagues. She loved socializing with her family and friends, enjoyed her wine, and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, survivors include son Shawn Blessing (and wife Laurie Kellogg); daughter Deanna Crombar (and husband Allen); grandchildren Corbin Blessing (and wife Liz), Benjamin Blessing (and wife Karly), and Andrew Logan Congo; great-grandchildren Peyton Blessing, Benjamin Blessing II, Michael Blessing, Landon Blessing, and Rowan Blessing; sister Malinda Prestridge; lifelong best friend Patricia Overkamp; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Jim Navrat and Galen Navrat and a nephew.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Andrew Church.
