Bryan and Karen Jeffery of St. Louis, Mo., and Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia announce the engagement of their children, Sarah Jeffery and Erik Korte.

The couple plans to marry on May 4, 2013, at Wine Country Gardens in Defiance, Mo.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Don and Wanda Jeffery of Florissant, Mo., and Dorothy and the late Bruce Robinson of Richards, Mo. She graduated from Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., with a bachelor of science degree and medical degree. She is in her final year of pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Forrest and Marie Anderson of Burdick and Mary and the late Tony Korte of Arkansas City.

He graduated from Emporia High School and Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree. He is working on a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Louisville.
